New Class!

Sundays | Sep 18-Oct 30 | 10:45am | Chapel

Who is God? Who is Jesus? Who is the Holy Spirit and how can you hear from Him? What is the Gospel? What is the Bible all about? How should my life be different now that I am following Jesus? If you are a new believer in Jesus, or if you have questions like these, plan to join Lee and Ashleigh Fenzel for a broad overview of some foundational topics of our Christian faith. Through study, round table discussion and listening to the Holy Spirit, we will explore these basics of the Christian faith that are key to growing in our walk with Jesus.

“1 and 2 Thessalonians: The Call to a Holy Life,” by Dr. David Jeremiah (no video)
Part of The Jeremiah Bible Studies series, 1 and 2 Thessalonians: The Call to a Holy Life brings Scripture to life in twelve lessons filled with teachings from Dr. David Jeremiah, one the most widely viewed and respected Bible teachers today. Each volume in the series includes study questions, commentary, and reflections to help readers understand what the Bible means to them today.

The apostle Paul founded many churches in the Roman Empire, including one in the Greek city of Thessalonica, which he visited during his second missionary journey. At that time Paul had been forced to flee the city, so he sent his coworker Timothy back to check on the congregation. Paul was encouraged at Timothy’s report but felt compelled to address misconceptions they had about the return of Christ. In each letter, Paul stressed that Jesus is coming back, that believers who are alive at the time will be gathered to Him, and that they needed to maintain a holy life and avoid idleness as they waited. Paul’s words likewise reveal to all believers today that Jesus will return—but that we need to keep doing His work in the meantime.

We have 3 options for you to participate in this study (all options require registration):

  1. In person at the church
  2. Virtually through Zoom

Mondays | Oct 17-Nov 14 | 6:30-8:30pm | West Adult Classroom
As we approach election season, all political sides warn of dire consequences if their side doesn’t prevail. Social media sizzles. Families and friends fracture. How did we become so divided? How did Jesus handle His political environment? What can we learn from that? What part do we play in the current division? What unique role can the church play in healing the division? And how can we learn to listen and speak in love even in difficult conversations? Led by two long-time CCC people, of opposing political viewpoints. Our purpose is not to change our minds about issues; it is to change our hearts about those with different views. Join us for 5 engaging sessions, with fellow believers, to seek a healthier ground: one where God’s people serve as instruments of God’s peace.

TWO BOOKS ARE NEEDED FOR THIS STUDY:**

AND the “Dream Big” (Study Guide) (christianbook.com)

**Normally we offer an option to pre-purchase your book(s) thru CCC; however, the price of the books have fluctuated considerably, so for this study, everyone is responsible for purchasing their own books.

“Dream Big: Know What You Want, Why You Want it, and What You’re Going to Do About it,” by Bob Goff
At some point, we resign ourselves to living by the scripts and rhythms established by other people. Perhaps it’s a parent. Maybe it’s a pastor or a boss or a teacher. Maybe it’s a mortgage or wedding date or that next pay raise. Wherever the source, today there is an ocean full of people living on the life rafts of what they were expected to do. If we look at the mirror, we might see ourselves on that life raft as well.

Ladies, join us for this 5-session video study by bestselling author Bob Goff, as he dares to ask the questions: What would you do if opinion, reason, or probability were no objects? What do you deeply desire to do even if it scares you to the marrow of your bones? What were you meant to do even if no other person thinks you should? He shares stories from the Bible that show how God called certain individuals to follow him—regardless of their lack of “qualifications”—and how those people changed the world when they dared to follow God’s dreams for their lives. In the same way, God is calling us to step into the version of our lives that he intended for us before others told us it was impossible and once again dream big.
