  1. Can you recall the first moment (or an early moment) where you realized how awesome God is? A moment where you reflected in awe, “My God did that!” 

 

  1. What experiences have propelled you not only to recognize that God is awesome but also that the awesome God is with you? 

 

  1. What giant(s) are you facing (finances? a diagnosis? broken relationships? etc.)? 

 

  1. What keeps you from believing that God is bigger than the giants you’re facing?

 

  1. What has God prepared you with? What are your smooth stones and your sling…your experiences and struggles that have set you up for the situation you’re in? 

 

  1. Pastor Robert said, “In the economy of God, nothing…is wasted.” Have you seen him redeem seemingly broken experiences or situations in your life? 

 

PRAY:

Lord, thank you for being an awesome God…the awesome God who is with me, from the beginning where you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Through all of my life, through the struggles and perceived failures, you’ve been there…a shaping, smoothing, sustaining river of life, preparing me for all the giants I face.

  1. Have you had a Red Sea moment when you “saw God”? 

 

  1. How have you seen God move in the last 3 years in your life or through the church? 

 

  1. How do you live by faith and not by sight in your daily life?

  1. How has the pandemic been God’s perfect timing in your life?

 

  1. Where have you seen God do amazing things in your life?

INTRODUCE: Go around the group creating an acrostic for each letter of the word “AWESOME” to describe God. ( A-almighty, W-_____, etc.)

READ: Romans 11:33-12:1, Psalm 90:12, Acts 1:8, II Corinthians 11:23b-29

WATCH: Only God video

  1. Read Romans 6:23, 8:1,35-39. After reading these verses, what would a “praise break” look like for you?
  2. “The God who measures the galaxies with the span of His fingers is the same God who holds your life in the palm of His hand.” What happens to you when you realize this fact?
  3. Romans 12:1 talks about being a living sacrifice. Practically speaking, how does being a living sacrifice and making worship a way of life look in a typical day?
  4. What was your reaction to the comments that were made about revisiting your life goals in light of the awesomeness of God when considering your dreams, goals, actions and legacy? How can you upgrade your life in view of the God with whom you are living?
  5. God has a calling on your life. He has empowered you to fulfill that calling through the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:8) What effect has that power had on your life and what impact can it have in the future?
  6. Who comes to mind as someone who is beyond redemption?  In what way could you be a “Beth” in that person’s life?
  7. How would your daily life change if you lived it based upon ONLY GOD who sees you rather than who you see in the mirror?

PRAYER: Take a “praise break” simply recognizing the ways in which God is awesome. Choose a person to pray for during the week in regard to their life goals.

  2. Describe what God is “like” using six (or less) descriptors.
  3. John had work and worship.  Do these two areas of your life meet, or are they separate? What do you think would happen if you prayed for what God wanted in your work?
  4. Complete the sentence, “God being transcendent means to me that……”
  5. Do you sense a new season in your life? What are you hoping for in this new season?
  6. What does “Only God” mean to you today?
  7. Where in the world or your life do you know “ONLY GOD” can make a difference?
